Hot take: Queen Kong is what happens when you hand six improvisers a Hasidic wedding book and tell them to make trouble.
Inspired by centuries old Jewish melodies, the band builds original compositions that borrow as much from jazz, funk, and Balkan brass bands as they do from klezmer tradition. Every tune starts with a musical question, gets wrapped around a groove, and is happily thrown around by six musicians. That's the Queen Kong-dom; a space between tradition and invention, where Jewish music isn't preserved behind glass, but continues to grow, surprise, and evolve. It's like that game we played as kids where we throw a bazillion balloons up in the air and have to keep them all up and not let them hit the ground, ever.
